I have heard of virtualbox and virtualbox-vm before, but I’ve never seen the virtualbox-vm one. It seems like a lot of people have seen this one.
Like many people, I’ve seen a lot of virtualbox and virtualbox-vm, and I’ve even installed and used them in the past. But I have never seen a virtualbox-vm. Why not? Well, to be honest, I don’t really know.
I just don’t see the point in having two different virtualization software environments. Virtualbox-vm is a virtualization software package, while virtualbox is a general purpose application. It would be much easier to get new programs to run on both, whereas we could have just one virtualbox-vm and one virtualbox.
Virtualbox-vm is actually a virtualization package for VirtualBox. For many users, however, it seems to be a generic application that is really just for testing. In fact, it does not seem to be that much of an improvement over our old virtualbox, the only difference being that it has a GUI. In short, virtualbox-vm is a virtualbox, but a virtualbox with the GUI.
The real reason I bought VMWare is because it is free and we can use it for all kinds of things. However, the main advantage is the VirtualBox GUI, which allows us to use a lot of our old programs, and makes the install a lot easier. But we can also use the old virtualbox just as a normal virtualbox and not have to worry about installing anything else. It is a real win-win for me.
The only catch? I have to use the free trial version of VMWare Studio to get things done, which is a real pain. I’m not talking about the graphical issues, but the fact that we have to spend money on something that only works for 1 hour at a time.
I can understand that, because I used to use VMWare for years and years. But to have to work with the old GUI and do it for a few hours at a time is not something I can say I’m willing to pay for. So I’m glad vmware is back, but I also realize that the old gui is a real pain to use for just a few hours at a time.
vmware is a software product, whereas virtualbox is a hardware product. Both are very similar in functionality, but the virtualbox gui is a lot easier to use and the old gui is much more difficult to use. So if you haven’t been using virtualbox, I highly recommend it. And if you’ve been using virtualbox, I highly recommend the old GUI. It’s easy to use, but it’s also much more stable and stable.
I’m sure both virtualbox and vmware have their fans, and I’m sure I will most likely use them in the future, but it can be really tough to make the switch. Sure, I can try virtualbox if I need to run something for a small amount of time, but I’m a real power user and I can see the virtualbox gui being a lot more productive and stable.
It also seems to be more popular with gamers because it is much more powerful. I see it a lot with people who are just getting into video games, but I see it a lot with people who have been playing and have a lot of experience, and Im sure they will find virtualbox easier to use for their specific needs.
