17 Superstars We’d Love to Recruit for Our snowflake vs splunk Team
To me, snowflakes are a perfect example of self-awareness. I love snowflakes because they are so beautiful and they never look quite right. When I take a good look at them, I am always aware of how far away they are from my nose. They don’t usually seem to be too big, but they are always so perfect, I can’t help but be envious.
Splunk, on the other hand, is much more of an abstraction than snowflakes. I love it because it is so efficient at capturing everything in my work process. I am constantly looking through my work files to figure out what tools I need to use to complete specific tasks. Splunk is great because it doesnt really care if it captures everything or not.
This is the way all of our creative workflows are structured, so it comes as no surprise that snowflakes and Splunks are competing for the best way to capture our information.
Both snowflakes and Splunks are cloud based platforms. Splunks is more of a software-as-a-service solution. Snowflakes is more of a custom built product (i.e. the app you download onto your computer). In this way, snowflakes might be better suited for some workflows where Splunks is more suitable (like creating a PowerPoint slide deck that is shared with a group).
You could argue that Splunks is a better platform for those that want to create a white-boarding slideshow, but the truth is the two products complement each other nicely. Snowflakes is a much better platform for a more traditional whiteboard application, and Splunks is a better platform for an app that needs to run on a smaller platform. Snowflakes is more suited to a web-based world where Splunks is more suitable for simple apps that are built for a web browser.
In Snowflakes, snowflakes are a bit of a puzzle for the user. The board is easy to pick up and throw, but it’s hard to get the ball rolling. In Splunks, snowflakes are a much more solid piece of puzzle to build, and the app becomes very easy to learn.
By going back to snowflakes, I think it is possible to reduce the initial learning curve without sacrificing functionality. One of my favorite pieces of snowflake is the ‘truck’. The truck is a simple, yet powerful, tool that allows you to draw and position the snowflake precisely. With the truck, you can get the point of a snowflake as easy or as precise as you need it.
Splunks is not a game that requires a lot of coding, but that you either want to learn or you don’t. If you like coding apps, you could try to build your own and check out the source code. If you take coding, you have the option of building a basic app (I built one that had about a dozen features) or using the built-in tools.
Splunks is not exactly like Snowflake in the sense that the developer didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about what they were doing rather than just sitting on their hands. It’s also not the sort of app that can be easily customized. Splunks can be used with any snowflake app, but some snowflake apps are more powerful than others.
Splunks is more of a “coding platform” than a “snowflake.” It makes sense that you would prefer someone build an app for you. But that’s also why someone should take the time to learn something about coding.
