is fax secure
Of course you can fax anything with your computer and it’s secure. However, if you want faxing to be more secure, you need to encrypt the transmission. This is usually accomplished by adding a secure number to the fax line and using a secure fax machine.
My favorite feature of fax security is the fact that fax security is so easy to set up. First, you set up a secure fax number. Then you can either manually configure the fax machine to send the fax to that number or you can use a program like fax-mfa or fax-to-email to automatically send the fax to the secure number.
Well, that’s one step in the right direction. But there’s still one more step. How do you encrypt the fax? A fax security solution should be able to send the fax to the secure number while still allowing you to open the fax in the normal way.
This is the part where most companies just suck. They should have thought of this years ago. Of course, you can’t just do encryption with a program, you have to use a real hard-to-break algorithm, and in this case the only way to get a fax to the secure number is to somehow bypass the encryption. That way, if you send a fax to a secure number and then open the fax in the normal way, you can read the information.
Most fax machines have a PIN code, which can be used to unlock the fax. This is great, but if you have a PIN code, remember to use the proper pin for the correct fax machine at your office. Or use the PIN codes sent to your phone by the fax machine itself.
Since you can’t send faxes to the secure number if the code matches, we’re forced to send the fax by hand. That’s a pain in the ass, so instead, we make a game out of it by using the fax machine to send a fax to our secure number. You never need to open the fax in the normal way because the fax machine’s security code will do that for you. It’s a fun game, and it does work.
Oh, and the other thing is that if you are the only one allowed to use the fax machine, you can just type in your own fax number and the fax will fax it to you. So you can have your own secure fax number, or if you are the only person allowed to use the fax machine, you can have a fax number that only you can use.
fax is one of those things that is one of those things that seems to be almost impossible to get right. I know I can’t explain it much better than that, but it’s like one of those things that are so very hard to make work.
fax is an especially bad example of this because the fax number is actually a very easy-to-remember password. But it turns out that fax is not as secure as it might seem.
I’ve tried using fax’s encrypted version, but it’s so hard to find and impossible to remember that I can’t do it. I also tried the non-encrypted version but this time it didn’t work either. The non-encrypted version is so insecure that most of the fax machines in my local office are using this instead.
