Intel has a lot to share, and with the release of the next gen processors, it seems like a good time to revisit the company’s legacy platforms to see what’s next.
Intel was a company that was on a trajectory of stagnation, but with the new chips, it appears to have finally found its footing. Intel’s chips are the brains of the current gen platform, so I’m hoping that the next gen of Intel’s platform will be more powerful than ever before. This is actually something that I know a lot of people are interested in.
The Intel processors that our team is working on are the Intel Xeon E3 processors. These chips are supposed to have the same memory bandwidth as Core i7s but are twice the speed. These processors are going to be available in the first quarter of 2012, so we should get them sometime in the next couple of months.
Intel is making an all-new series of processors called the “Kaby Lake” processors. They use a new socket called the “Kaby Lake”, that is going to be available in Q2 2012. And yes, these processors are going to be twice as fast as the current generation.
The Kaby Lake processors are going to be the first processors that Intel has made that use 64-bit addresses. That is going to be the main selling point for Intel’s desktop chips moving forward. This is going to allow Intel to get rid of the legacy code that is no longer necessary on its chips when they switch to 64-bit addresses.
Now that we have the new processors, what the hell are they going to do with those chips? We already know Intel is going to be doing its own custom motherboard designs and it is going to be very expensive.
The new 64-bit chips will be used in the upcoming Intel Core i7 and i9 chips, but I think Intel is going to be pushing its custom designs down to the low-end chips. The custom designs will allow Intel to make really impressive chips that are designed for the desktop market. In other words, Intel is going to be selling its own custom chips that are designed to run on the desktop market.
Intel is a very well known company in the industry. They come in so many different shapes and sizes. The fact that they’re making their own custom chips makes them a very interesting company to watch how they do their stuff.
